Design

The 2024 Sportage Plug-In Hybrid line has only two trims, the X-Line and X-Line Prestige. There’s no need for more trims because even the base model has an amazing list of standard features. For instance, both models have a smart power liftgate and a stunning panoramic sunroof with power sunshade. Not only do you get 40 cubic feet of storage space in the cargo area, but a dual-level cargo floor provides even more, plus a sturdy cover to keep its contents hidden.

Better yet, Kia has configured this trim so that everyone will be comfortable even on the longest road trips. The lower X-Line trim’s standard features include a driver’s seat that’s power-adjustable 10 ways with 2-way power lumbar adjustment, heated front seats, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. The dual-zone climate control system has rear AC vents. Moving up to the X-Line Prestige model adds ventilated front seats, driver’s seat memory, an 8-way power-adjustable front passenger seat, and a heated steering wheel.

Performance

A turbocharged 1.6-liter 4-cylinder engine and full parallel hybrid system are standard in both trims. By itself, the electric motor provides 89 hp and 224 lb-ft of torque, while the engine delivers 177 hp and 195 lb-ft of torque. Combined, they offer 261 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque.

A 6-speed automatic transmission is also standard, and you can choose from four drive modes: Normal, Smart, Sport, and Snow. The AWD hybrid has remote start, a 34-mile driving range and can tow up to 2,000 pounds with trailer brakes or 1,653 without them.

Technology

A 6-speaker audio system with SiriusXM is standard in the line’s base model. A 12.3-inch touchscreen display with navigation anchors the infotainment system, which features Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and wireless Bluetooth connectivity for multiple devices. The front row has a USB media port, USB-C charging port, and wireless phone charger, while the second row has two USB-C charging ports.
