Are you thinking about buying a three-row SUV, but are not sure which model to buy? The latest addition to the three-row SUV segment is the all-new 2020 Kia Telluride. It impresses on many levels, with its bold exterior design, excellent performance, cavernous interior, advanced multimedia and driving assistance technologies, and off-road capabilities. See the advantages that the Kia Telluride has over the competition in this 2020 Kia Telluride vs 2019 Volkswagen Atlas comparison.

On the performance front, the 2020 Kia Telluride outmuscles the 2019 VW Atlas. It comes equipped with the 3.8L V6 GDI engine, which churns out 291 horsepower. The base 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder engine in the Atlas only manages 235 horsepower, while its available 3.6L VR6 engine produces 276 horsepower. Both SUVs offer an available all-wheel drive system and can tow up to 5,000 pounds. However, unlike the Atlas, the Telluride has many different drive modes (Sport, Smart, Comfort, and Eco), along with settings for AWD Lock and Snow.

Advantages of the Kia Telluride over the Volkswagen Atlas

An obvious selling point of three-row SUVs is the ability to haul many people, and on this front, the Telluride is the better choice. It can seat up to eight people and has a total passenger volume of 178.1 cu-ft. In comparison, the Atlas can seat up to seven people and has a total passenger volume of 153.7 cu-ft.

The Kia Telluride offers many driving assistance technologies, including ones that are not available for the VW Atlas. This includes Driver Attention Warning, Highway Driving Assist, and the Head-Up Display, which projects driving information onto the windshield. Also, unlike the Atlas, the Telluride has an available Driver Talk feature, which enables the driver to communicate with the second-row and third-row passengers via a microphone.
