The front-wheel drive Kia Carnival comes with a standard 3.5-liter V-6 engine in all trims. The V-6 turns out 287 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. A smooth-shifting eight-speed automatic transmission is standard. All of this combines for a well-balanced ride with smooth cruising and composed handling on corners.

The EPA-estimated fuel economy rating for the Kia Carnival is 18 mpg in the city, 26 mpg on the highway, and 21 mpg combined.
Interior and Comfort
The 7-to-8-seat Kia Carnival has a spacious interior with extremely comfortable seats and ample head and legroom for adults in all three rows, making the minivan well suited for long drives. A second-row bench seat comes standard but can be replaced by two reclining seats that have pop-up footrests, adding even more comfort for passengers. The Carnival offers multiple options for cargo space with the folding and/or removal of seats. The second-row bench seat can be divided into three sections that slide independently for flexibility. They also can be removed for maximum cargo space. The third-row seats fold flat into the floor, offering for greater cargo space in the back. Behind the third row, there is 40.2 cubic feet of cargo space. With the third-row seat folded flat and the second-row bench seat removed, there is a whopping 145.1 cubic feet of cargo space.
Infotainment and Connectivity
A 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen comes standard in the Carnival. Dual 12.3-inch digital displays are optional in higher trims. One serves as a digital gauge display while the other handles the infotainment duties. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, and a host of USB ports can be found throughout the cabin. A six-speaker audio system comes standard with a 12-speaker Bose Premium Audio System available in the SX Prestige trim.
Safety
The Carnival comes standard with blind spot monitoring, lane departure warning with lane-keeping assist, and automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection. Adaptive cruise control with a lane-centering feature is available.
