The 2024 Kia Carnival has a roomy interior and a generous selection of desirable standard features even in the line’s base model. That’s how it earned an impressive rating of 9 out of 10 from Car and Driver and made the magazine’s 2024 Editors’ Choice list.

Design

Every row in the 2024 Carnival can have its preferred temperatures from the tri-zone climate control system. Plus, the windshield and front door windows all have solar glass installed. This reduces the amount of heat accumulating in the cabin, helping to keep the interior comfortable.

The Carnival is fairly similar to Kia’s highly popular Telluride SUV. It has a boxy upright design that combines a tall roof with a low floor, resulting in extra height that tall occupants will appreciate. The standard sliding seats can be removed from the second row to create additional floor space. Heated side-view mirrors with integrated turn signals are also included.

Performance

A 3.5-liter V6 engine and an 8-speed automatic transmission with an Eco-Drive Mode powers the front-wheel-drive 2024 Carnival line, providing 287 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque. Fuel economy is estimated to average 18 mpg when driving in the city and 26 mpg on highways.

Remote Engine Start is standard, allowing you to pre-heat or pre-cool your Carnival before entering it. Push Button Start, Smart Key, Hill Start Assist, and Downhill Brake Control are standard across the line, as well.

Technology

The standard audio system in the 2024 Carnival’s base model has six speakers, AM/FM stereo, and SiriusXM satellite radio. A 12.3-inch touchscreen display with voice recognition is the centerpiece of this model’s infotainment system, which features wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, wireless Bluetooth Connectivity for multiple devices, and a wireless hotspot. There are two USB-C charging ports in all rows and the front row also has a USB data port.

Kia has a smart connectivity system that integrates with compatible smart speakers and iOS or Android smartwatches and smartphones. You can also download the Kia app, which automatically calls 911 whenever an airbag inflates, provide maintenance reminders, and more.

Safety

One of the biggest highlights of the 2024 Carnival is the generous selection of driver’s aid and safety technology Kia has installed even in the line’s lowest trim level. These include:

  • Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist
  • Blind Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist
  • Front and Rear Park Distance Warning
  • Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist
  • Lane Following Assist

  • Lane Departure Warning
